Dr. Jose Manikkathan
DirectorDr.Jose has been Director of AIFO India since 2001. He holds a Ph.D in Sociology and is a pioneer in the disability and rehabilitation sector. Having worked in the development sector for over 30 years, Dr. Jose is leading the battle for leprosy eradication working in several capacities including national and international leadership positions, as an expert facilitator for CSO’s working in the public health space, as a research lead and as a consultant for monitoring and evaluation.
Dr. Manimozhi Natarajan
Head, Medical coordinationDr. Manimozhi Natarajan, is Head Medical Coordination for Leprosy Programs, and National NLEP ( National Leprosy Eradication Program) consultant working directly with the Central Leprosy Division, Government Of India.Dr. Starting in 1984, Dr.Manimozhi has devoted over three decades of his life to leprosy work, easing the pain and suffering of countless individuals across the country. Manimozhi graduate from Karnool Medical College with an MBBS. He holds several certifications and diplomas in Health Education and Public Health such as a Diploma in Health Education from AIIHPH and a Certificate in epidemiology from John Hopkins University in Baltimore. Dr. Manimozhi has worked at various levels including medical officer, researcher and scientist. He has been recognized and awarded nationally and international for his work in the field of leprosy. Notably, he is the winner of the International award Roul Follereau, the Manohar Diwan Award and more recently recognized by been recognized by Sumanahalli for his commitment to leprosy work.
Dr. Jayanth Kumar YB
Head,ProgrammesDr.Jayanth is Head of Programs at AIFO India, where he manages AIFO India’s community based rehabilitation work with our network 17 partners across 10 states of India. He holds a Ph.D in sociology and a diploma in community health management , as well as completing an international CBR managers course. Dr.Jayanth completed his schooling from the Sri Ramana Maharishi School for the Blind and his higher education in a regular college despite being a visually impaired person. He has published several research papers and coauthored several national and international studies on disability, CBR and inclusive development. Being differently abled himself, Dr.Jayanth always wanted to give back to the community, challenge perceptions about disability and uplift the lives of those coming from backgrounds of poverty, vulnerability, disability and disease.
Operations Manger, AIFO IndiaSmeja Paul, a professional Social Worker with four years of experience in different NGO’s that offer services in different social development sectors. She is a graduate of Christ University and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Psychology and English Literature, complemented by a Master degree in Social Work. She has been awarded scholarship from HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands to participate in International Course at the University on International Sustainable Development Cooperation.
Patrick A Kempu
Head,Finance & AdministrationPatrick A Kempu, is Head of Finance and Administration at AIFO India , where he has been working for over a decade. He Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Mysore. Mr. Patrick has held numerous positions in the field of Finance and Accounting working for several prestigious and respected firms including Bennet Colman Group – Times of India and Bharath Earth Movers a Government of India Enterprise. Mr. Patrick is an accomplished musician and singer and trains young musicians in his free time
Dr. Samuel Michael
NLEP Consultant, KarnatakaDr.Samuel Micheal, is a consultant with the National Leprosy Eradication Programme under the Central Leprosy Division, Government of India and has worked in several capacities in the non profit sector for nearly 39 years. Dr. Michael is a trained medical doctor and holds several post graduate certifications in leprosy, Health Management from IIM Bangalore, hospital management, maternal and child health, human resource management and industrial health. He is also recipient of a fellowship in public health FRIPH (UK), and a certificate in Palliative care ( UK). Since March 2013 he has been a consultant for the NLEP program, working with AIFO India on our leprosy programs in Karnataka. He has been a consultant to OXFAM, Consultant and former CEO of the American Leprosy Mission, Consultant to ILEP India, Consultant and Director of Community Health at the Bangalore Baptist Hospital and Member of the Board of Management. Dr,Micheal brings rich and varied experience to not only the government programs but also AIFO India's leprosy initiatives.
Admin ManagerLucy is one of the AIFO India’s earliest employees joining us in 1997. Today she looks after office administration and coordination with our partners across the country and supports all teams with their admin and finance requirements. Lucy ensures that our guests, volunteers and staff are well taken care off at all times. In the past Lucy has worked with the Karnataka Paper Agencies, Dalmia & co Chartered Accountant, MECCON India, Engineering Enterprises and St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore.
Diver/Office AssistantKrishnappa has been working with AIFO India since its inception in 1998. Prior to that, he has worked with the Karnataka Dairy Cooperative as well as in the Private Transportation Sector. Krishnappa, is primarily responsible for driving the AIFO Team to field visits, as well as running administrative errands.

Dr. Reymon Roy Lanong
NLEP Consultant, North EastDr. Ryinmon Roy Lanong is North East Coordinator for AIFO India He holds an MBBS as well as a Diploma in Hospital Administration. Prior to joining AIFO India, Dr. Lanong worked with the Meghalaya State Government Service starting in 1979 and retired as Joint Director of Health Services after holding several posts including Zonal leprosy officers and state leprosy officer. During his distinguished career he has authors, published and presented several papers in India and globally. Mr. Lanong has also completed several certificate course included Certificate course in Family Planning, Leadership Course and several trainings under the National Leprosy Eradication Program. Dr. Lanong is also a resource person for RTI after undergoing training by Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration, a program funded by the UNDP. He is also the state nodal officer and facilitator for Pandemic training. Dr. Lanong was also member of the Joint Monitoring Mission NLEP of the State of Tamil Nadu, group leader for the mid – term evaluation for the State of Uttar Pradesh ( participated in the capacity of a temporary advisor to the WHO) and as an evaluator for post LCDC evaluation of the Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. Dr.Lanong is passionate about leprosy eradication and wants to make a positive impact through the use of his extensive experience and skills.
Dr. Nayan Kumar Dass
ConsultantDr. Nayan Kumar Das formely worked with the Assam Rural Health Services. Starting his career as an M &HO-I on 1983 he worked across different State Dispensaries ( PHC’s) of NC Hills, Kamrup, Barpeta for 11 years. He rose steadily in his career and retired as Additional Director of Health Services, Uppar Assam. A passionate medical practitioner, he is deeply committed to the cause of leprosy and neglected tropical and communicable diseases. Today he is a consultant to AIFO Indias NLEP program supporting our work in enhancing government leprosy healthcare services.
PhysiotherapistMr. Biswanath Mahato is a physiotherapy technician at AIFO India’s, Guwahati office. Mr. Mahato holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and he is a trained physio-technican. He has also participated in Electrotherapy training at Moniguda, and has undergone training in health communication skills at Naini Allahabad. In the past he has worked with LEPRA India at Mayurbhanj District of Odisha as a physiotherapy technician For five years he worked with the Leprosy Mission Trust India, across Chatisgardh, Maharasthra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. Today at AIFO India, Mr.Mahato works as a physio-technican supporting AIFO India’s work across the North East Regions working in pre and post op management, ulcer management, complication management, distribution of Micro cellular rubber footwear, aides and appliances and capacity building of ASHA workers in Borgang, Tripura, Meghalaya etc.
Data Entry OperatorSimanta is responsible for all Data Entry, record keeping, administration and coordination for the AIFO NLEP office in Guwahati, Assam. Prior to working with AIFO India, Simanta was working as a customer care executive in a Travel Agency. He holds a diploma in office management and is the 6th semester of pursuing his BA degree from Kanta Handique State Open University. Seeing and experiencing hardship made Simanta pursue a life of service in the non profit sector.
PhysiotherapistMs.Vijaylaksmi is a trained Physiotherapist working alongside our medical team in the north east region, in support of the NLEP program. She started her career as a community organizer working at New Hope, following which she spent nearly a decade at Hoina Leprosy Trust surgical Unit and then moved on to the Lepra Society. She has worked and learned from numerous medical experts and has not only been involved in surgical units but also in several training programs. She credits her former colleague Mr. E.T. Rose, Director at Hoina and said that if he had not motivated her to explore leprosy work, she would have probably ended up as a nurse or teacher. Today, after all these years working in leprosy she said she is deeply contented and have committed myself to working without any motivation of profit.
Pranab Kumar Das
Non Medical Supervisor NLEPPranab Kumar Das has been working as the NMS at the AIFO/NLEP Program office in Guwahati since 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Guwahati University and has undergone several technical training programs over the course of his career enabling him to be a impactful NMS and leprosy worker. He started his career as an urban leprosy worker at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital and has held the position of NMS across several areas such as Dibrugarh and Kamrup in Assam. In 2012 he retired while serving as NMS to the State Leprosy Office , Assam. Pranab is very passionate about the welfare of persons affected by leprosy and committed to their medical as well as socio-economic rehabilitation.
